Going to Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs around March 12th. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or past tricks I could start with to try and get my cousin and I on a few Stripers. He nor I have ever caught any. My first step was to start around some humps in main lake just scanning. Will probably just go the artificial bait route.

Largemouth help / tips would be appreciated also, this shouldn't be as unfamiliar for me. Just a different lake, but hopefully water temps are on the up and up by mid March.

When I fished beaver lake with a guide a couple years ago in March he slow trolled .5 mph with 6” gizzard shad in 140 ft of water. After only catching 3 fish in 5 hrs I turned on my Thumper and within 3 minutes all the rods were going down with fish. I saw trees on the bottom with fish in them on his sonar. You could watch them come up to 25 ft and hit our baits. I don’t know about lmb up there. Sorry

I've been to Hamilton twice in the last few years and both times fishing was great. Caught plenty of hybrids and a few nice walleye up on the north west side of the lake toward the damn. There are good stripers in hamilton as well but we didn't have as much luck with them, I would recommend getting a guide to take you out on Ouachita while you are there which is the lake above the Hamilton dam.

Find Stripholic on here. He has been several times in recent years. I have fished a few tournaments there.
There are some awful big stripers in Hamilton. Take your A game unless you want your heart broken.

If you want a few big stripers - Ouachita.
If you want to catch more than a few fish - Hamilton.

We are probably more on the side of catching fish for numbers and fun.

If you want to catch a lot of stripers, skip all these Arkansas lakes and hit Texoma.

I could go to Texoma weekly if I wanted to. But, I have family with a booked rental place I was meeting in H springs. They are visiting from Iowa.
