Since sandbass run up the creeks and rivers to spawn, I've always wondered if folks have luck catching them at the spillways behind local lakes - like Lewisville and Ray Roberts, or any other Texas lakes - during the spawn?

It seems they would gang up there once they hit a "dead end" at the base of the dams.

Thanks in advance for your input.
Ken

Yes they can be very good. Problem is that they become more crowded than the creeks since the fish and fishermen are limited to one main area below the spillway.

Haven't been there in a few years but I used to catch the heck out of Sand Bass below the spillway at Possum Kingdom.

Ray Roberts was good this time of year last year. I marked it on my calendar, caught a lot of hybrid but they were releasing water then. So far nothing this year.

As of this morning they are releasing 651 CFS.

They are only releasing 333 CFS at this time...so I doubt it is enough to draw the hybrids up to the dam.
I would really like to hook into some hybrids.
