We fished down there last week starting Feb 17th. Water temp was in the mid 60's. Started at one pm Sat afternoon had Seventy five by five. Caught a three man limit each day four days in a row. Fish were along the river in either direction of the 99 bridge ramp from six to eighteen inches of water and all on jigs, color didn't seem to matter. Saw a dozen or so of these

There is hydrilla and water hyacinthss all along the bank and we caught some in six inches of water. We cleaned our fish at the Calliham unit state park and one of the Rangers there told us they were catching them from the bank around the boat ramp. He said two guys told him they bought forty eight minnows and had forty seven fish.

I've never fished down there at the 99 bridge but I'm now stuck between kayaking there or at the Nueces this Friday. Is there a place to park and put in?

There is another ramp at Mason point that I see a lot of kayaks launch. The rock bank to your left usually has fish and the closer you get to the next cove, the better it gets. The cattails at the next cove are usually good. And straight across from them is a good steep bank.

Great report and nice catches
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Missed out AGAIN Guess Ol' Gary can catch a fish Ol' Gary went through both bags of the copper mines that I got him. The last morning we were there I noticed he had four baits in a package that he said he was saving for days when he couldn't get em to hit anything else 😳 I told him he could order more but he hates the Internet.
