It seems to me that anyone with a gas powered quickie saw and about 15-20 minutes could get inside almost any gun safe made, and locks only keep honest people out anyway, so I have no fantasy that any brand of gun safe will protect all of my valuables indefinitely. True, but do you suppose the typical burglar breaks into a home prepared for an Oceans Eleven escapade? Most thieves are looking for easy pickings. But, yes, you have to be prepared to accept that sometimes the thieves are prepared and determined to bust open a safe. had an incident at a convenience store that I used to manage where thieves broke in at night, got a heavy-duty prybar jammed under the safe, and popped it straight up from the concrete (it had bolts drilled through into the floor. Then the SOBs dragged it out of the store, loaded it into their vehicle and took it somewhere else to blast open at their leisure.

I'm at the point where giant over built safes are worthless. I want something that can move to my closet, bolt to the slab, keep out the kids and any junior burglars, and be easy for me to access when needed. Fire, flood, oldfrog, my big azz safe won't keep anything safe from that which I have no control over.

Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

I've seen a safe advertised on TV (one of the outdoor channels) that is not the big heavy deal with sheetrock walls. Still supposed to have those same fire protection standards and theft protection.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Almost every security device you have at work or home is a detourant I put up security shutters and rolling grilles on retails stores and malls . And they get so pissed when they get broke into . Basically all these things motion sensors , cameras , safes, gates , alarm systems buy you some time and the thief has to ask him self is it worth the effort to go thru with this heist.

I have a Sentry safe. Its not huge. Holds about 8 rifles. Easily moved with a dolly. My father in law gave it to me when he built his new house. He had a gun safe built into the house.
My grandmother used to have a fireproof filing cabinet. Those would be perfect for storing pistols. They were ridiculously heavy.

I did a lot of research a few years back. I found that the Cabelas safes are made by Liberty and dont cost quite as much as Liberty branded ones. I got one of the signature ones Ive been very happy with mine. It was probably twice as much as a Canon one though.
Id encourage you to buy a bigger one than you think youll ever need. They fill up quick.

My brother has this safe. He went to open it a few weeks ago and the handle broke off. Not sure how is going to get in it now.

Most safes can be cut open with an angle grinder with a cutting wheel in a few minutes. A serious thief can get in there pretty easily. I still have peace of mine with mine, the average kick the door in meth-head isn't getting in there and I have some fire protection. I have represented 3 different major safe companies in the last 28 years and have seen exactly 2 where a burglar used a tool to cut into one where it sat. And those safes was in a house in the country and the thrives had unlimited time. I have known of 3 or 4 that were stolen from a garage. But that is fixed by using a good bolt down kit. You cannot buy a safe that cannot be cut into but you can buy one that can sit be opened with a pry bar, or drilled. Make sure you a buy a UL listed SAFE. Not just a UL listed lock. Everything can be broken into given the right tools and time but 99.9% of the time a good gun safe is a safe(pardon the pun) bet against thieves.

I prefer the Liberty. I got to see one at their old location in Garland that some thugs actually stole and tried to get into it. It was beat and cut to death and they finally gave up. They will take a beating and the fire resistance is good. I saved money on the powder coating instead of the high gloss finish. It's heavy and bolted down. It won't be a picnic to get it out of the house..

I have a Cannon. Picked it up at one of the local shows. 60 minute fire protection. The warranties are great as well. Mine wasn't overly expensive with home delivery and set up around $800
