since i have neither just want to hear from the experts if you had to pick a shallow water anchor product or an ultrex which would you choose? I really don't want to spend the money on both.

I'm in the same boat as you and will be getting a Ultrex, I knew holding out and not getting PP would pay off.
I guess if you do a lot of bed fishing PP would pay off.

I've had mu Ultrex for about 3 weeks now and it's the best thing that ever happened to a bass boat. You can anchor in 50 FOW or 2 FOW with a touch of a button. PP won't do that.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.

...You know after being a Terrova owner for 3 years I have always said the MK Anchor Lock was the ONLY way to go. I just bought a boat with a MK ULTERRA w/ self deploy--retrieve option and 8ft Talons they are both absolutely GREAT. The Talons have their place and are used a lot more than what I thought I would use them. Get both.

Truly depends on where you spend most of your time fishing. 8 FOW and deeper get the Ultrex, 8' FOW and shallower get the Shallow Water Anchors. I have both Ultrex and 8' Power Poles. I do not use my TM where the Poles will hold me. I think the TM constantly engaging might spook the fish in shallow water. My $.02
