Free yes but you are expected to donate to a charity to get the free pancakes.
You would have to be pretty crass to order the free pancakes and not donate the price to the charaity. I'm sure no one in TFF is that rude.

I dont think I even consider pankcakes a real meal. Its like eating just bread. Some kind of animal has to have died for me to consider it a real meal.

1. I like IHOP pancakes
2. Donating is fine when voluntary, but if you "must donate" to get the supposed "free" pancakes, it's a bait and switch. They aren't really free at all.
3. I take my own syrup to every breakfast that I know I'll order pancakes, no matter the restaurant.
I used to be shy about it, nervous if someone saw me pour it from my little bottle, but now I do it boldly. Many people ask about it, and laugh stating, "That's a good idea."
4. Waffles blow...they are just hard pancakes
