Threw the tackle box at them and never got a bite! Worst day ever. Fished grass, flipped shallow, square bills, spinnerbaits, rattletraps. Nothing just freaking nothing. How did you guys do? Let’s hear the stories.

Fished shallow all day. 2 slots on a Finch Nasty Thumper, knocked a good 2# under off with the dang net and weighed in 5 for 7.48. lost fish cost us a check. Caught all our keepers on black blue senko.

Put in at the north end of Coffee around 8:30am. Fished until 11am with no bites, and headed to Panda Express in Sulphur Springs. LOL! Didn't wake up until 7am.... wasn't in any hurry after driving over the lake yesterday to register. Tried sq bill, finch nasty thumper, black/blue jig, 3/4 One knocker in red... fished dirt deep out to 5'. grass, stumps, outside edge of weeds, and willows. Son c-rigged a RiverA Lizard, and a couple different beetle spins, and his favorite jig. We got bored from casting and decided hunger was winning. Fun day just to get out of the house and see that bright shiny thing in the sky for a little while. Fun experience for my son.

I wasn't in the champs tournament but had showed up to fish JC's that got canceled. I went ahead and fished hard from 7-2:30 Sunday. I had two in the seven pound range and three five pounders. Also had four big unders. One of my better days in awhile and nobody was expecting them to bite with the gates open.

The whole "the gates are open" and "the lake was blown out from all the rain" stuff was nothing more than wives tales yesterday. The lake was fine. Lots of good water to fish and they bit on a lot of different baits. Only tale I have from yesterday is being an idiot and leaving where we started. We had fish there and they were biting. Instead I took off looking for more and it hurt us. my fault and a truly boneheaded decision. Came back to our starting spot late in the day and caught them till time to come back in.

water started at 50 degrees and ended up 57-58.. we caught 6 keepers and 1 slot. Lost 2 fish that would have probably got us paid. weighed in 8.10. caught every fish on soft plastics but it sounds like the better bites/sacks came on moving baits from the dock talk afterwards.

Take Dead Aim
I'd rather be lost on the water than found at work!

Caught fish pretty much all day in one area. Never left it. Water temps started about 52 and climbed to about 55. We had about 30 or so fish with several nice slots including the one below that was over 8 lbs. but 1/4 short. It was a fun day for sure!

We had a great day! 11th place with 9.80. Water temp was 52 to 54. We were culling by 10.30. Had 1 that was 23 1/4 inches long that was a toad and 1 that was 22 inches long. Both these big girls were full of roe and ready ! The fish were chomping a trap on the ends of points in 5 ft of water. The faster you burned the better the bite. The lake is about to bust loose !!

I failed to make the right adjustments... pulled into my primary area, water was 5 degrees warmer than last weekend when I prefished. 3rd cast I caught a 7 lb toad, moved forward about 15 yards and had 2 more 5 lb fish. I convinced myself that as the water warmed the unders would show back up where they are supposed to be. Well... that didnt pan out, only managed one of those 2+ lb unders I had found during practice. Started running around looking to late and never found the right size fish. All mental mistakes I made, was fishing solo so as the song goes... nobodys fault but mine! 2 gates were open on my way to the lake Sunday morning.. if anything the gates being open and water level rising made the bigger fish much more aggressive IMO. 22 3/4" was as close as I got to 24". All in all it was a great event as always with Champs, really enjoyed hanging with the fellas and eating crawfish at Bros Saturday night too!

Everything worked out as planned the fish I found were still there and they bite a trap very well... Ended up with 10.59 and 7th place and 3k richer so I'm a happy camper!! We had a 10lb limit by 10:00 and worked hard to bring the weight up to 10.59lbs. We needed one more 2lber and we would have reached 11lbs...
