Yeah, boxelder bug nymphs and a few adults (fully winged) mixed in. Check out http://counties.agrilife.org/galveston/files/2012/03/Boxelder-Bugs-Publ.-E-4531.pdf for more information. After I dropped the link I noticed that the extension bulletin was written by one of my former students. Pretty cool! They are not beneficial insects, they feed on seeds of boxelders and other trees, but are more of a nuisance pest because they aggregate in cracks and crevices during the winter and early spring.

I put them all in a box and have mailed the box to your house. Is that why they call them boxelders?
