I've seen some people talking about microwave guides. Seems like the higher end custom rod builders use them a lot.
Are they really that good? Do they make casting smoother? Do you feel the line better with them?
And are their any advantages to having them on finesse rods, drop shotting and Ned rig fishing ?

Do they cook your fish by the time it gets reeled in?
I have a few rods with micro guides and don't really notice any difference. I think most people do not like them.

I switched over to them exclusively, seems like I can feel a ton more as well as no flimsy eyes bending.
If you compare micro to non say with braid and a texas rig with tungsten the difference is easily noticeable. Just drag both across the same area.

They work pretty good...Just don't use a hard bait with a foil patterned paint.

A microwave guide is something different than micro guides on a rod. The microwave guide is usually only a single guide, the one closest to the reel.
If you are asking about micro guides on a rod, I do not like them at all. I have two rods with them because I like the flex of the rod but not the guides. They are both crank bait rods. Think about this, with the line so close to the rod blank, any time you are putting pressure on the rod like when fighting a fish, the line will be touching a lot more of the blank causing more friction. Whether that matters or not, I don't know but it might. Just something to think about.

I just looked it up, interesting concept. I bet it works well on a spinning rod. An update to the large first guide on good spinning rods.

When you did this "feel" test did you use the exact same rod, one with micros and one with standard guides, or were they two different rods? I know a rod builder that also does repairs on rods and he told me that he has to replace broken micro guides way more than the standard guides on rods.

true microwave is the first on a spinning rod, I have those also on some of my spinning rods, I assumed the original poster was using the wrong term, could be wrong.

It's seems to do OK for spinning rods just based on advertisements but have never thrown one so I don't know if it helps. I have a Kistler Mag 2(casting rod) that has it and I don't notice any difference than any of my other rods.

Yes both bps carbonlite rods, the point of me posting was to save other from going thru what I did. I got heavier into fishing and equipped myself with 12 new bps rods and then grabbed one with micro guides to try and QUICKLY quit using the standard tips.

I am not a big fan of "micro" guides. I was referencing these:
