I can't imagine myself not having a boat without Power Poles. I have an Ultrex as well and still find plenty of use for my Power Poles, especially during the spawn.

I use my talon every trip! Even if not fishing shallow, i use it to park at dock while getting my truck. Use it in deep water sometimes to grab trees below and pause the boat in a drift.

I like to "sneak" into an area really quiet that I know I'm going to fish for a while and put my poles down. Fishing deeper where a little noise from the TM won't disrupt anything I'll use spot lock. Power poles are also worth the money if you launch/fish alone too.

They're worth it if you're alone a bunch and fish shallow waters fairly regular. If all you fish are steep highland reservoirs then their utility is limited.

I love mine. I wish I had two but I don't have any space for a 2nd pump in my transom area.

Power Pole or Talon? Get the one you like the most in the longest length you can afford.

Be safe,

I have an aluminum Xpress. Last year I placed a (one) pole on my boat. I used it some but until about two weeks ago during a tournament My trolling motor quit. Fishing in Kickapoo creek on Palestine I could have gone home and sat on the couch and complain about it. But instead I used my mapping electronics to find the creek bends Put down my power pole and fished. I did not win but I did catch some fish, because of my power pole. I was able to fish all day ! So proud that I have a power pole on my boat.

15' talons with the ultrex. Depends on what you think is worth the investment. They will help you catch a few fish and make docking a little easier. Is that worth 4k to you? I finally bought my first set of anchors after never owning any. I think I will really like them, I did like setting out on a hump in 15' and not making any noise and just being able to fish

Either one.
Just make sure you get two of them.
Thank us later.

Mike McFarland and I were discussing talons vs. power poles. He brought up a good point, he said in a reservoir like lake fork the clay bottom will stick to the bottom of the poles and the talons will retract with the mud. Where the talons having mud on them isnt such a hassle. Im looking to buy soon, Thoughts?

If you like shallow fishing they are definitely worth it.

I've had none, then a Triton with 1 talon and a Fortrex. Now, I have a ZX250 with Ultrex and added the additional pole. Where the Ultrex is the greatest thing since Raquel Welch, I am thrilled I have two poles. Makes all fishing so much easier for many reasons. I think you'll find you love having the Ultrex AND 2 poles so much, the cost will be considered an INVESTMENT and not a cost, immediately.
