Not entirely true, only a couple of 8 in 1 models

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/201...call/388273002/

The distributor has received 107 reports of the Gem 65 8-in-1 overheating, including five instances when it caused minor property damage, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

No injuries have been reported.

The recall affects models with batchcodes of 1728, 1730, 1731, 1734 or 1746 printed on the rating label underneath the multicooker.

The multicookers, which cost approximately $80, were sold exclusively at Walmart stores across the country and at www.walmart.com between August 2017 and this past January.

we are using ours a lot now....every thing from boiled eggs,, spaghetti, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes... And I played around with the recipe and made some of the best barbecued ribs I've ever eaten.... You really got to get creative with it but instant pots are awesome.... My mom made some yogurt in hers.... Blew away any store-bought yogurt I've ever eaten.

Got one for Christmas. Have made half a dozen vegatable soups, which take about 10mins. Boiled eggs, basmati rice and a huge batch of red beans and rice. One of my soup recipes below - the amount of each ingredient can be varied depending on your personal taste.

Carrots
Fresh green beans,
Cremini mushrooms
sweet corn
red onion
celery
New potatoes / cubed
stewed tomatoes - I like them with green chilies or some other Mexican or cajun flavor. Don't drain - the whole can goes in.
Vegatable stock or Chicken broth as the base
small can of tomato paste
Salt, pepper, Fiesta Fajita marinade spice, garlic salt and if you're feeling frisky, some Cayenne Pepper to spice it up a bit.
2 cubes of beef bullion
some baking powder if you want to thicken up the consistency, but not necessary.
Add water to bring up to the fill line if it's not there already.

Throw all that in and pressure cook for 10mins.

Troy King - I'd like to see your rib recipe!

It's very simple...I do two racks at a time...season the ribs with what ever you want and allow to marinade however long you want...for the liquid required to pressure cook I made a concoction of beef bouillon, water,a dash of liquid smoke, and BBQ sauce (all total 8oz of liquid)...just pour it in the pot and stand the ribs up on edge in the pot, kinda wrapped around each other...cook for 42 minutes on the meat setting...allow to naturally depressurize, and carefully remove them one at a time onto a baking sheet( I had to use two sets of tongs in order to do this because they will try to fall apart...now just rub them down with BBQ sauce and either broil them in the oven or on a hot grill untill they look charred and the sauce is carmalized.
