More questions before a purchase. Will the transducer built into the Motor Guide xi5 support the use of the down scan of the hook 7 unit I have?

No the XI5 built in transducer is 2D sonar only.

Thank you, Any ideas on mounting a transducer capable of downscan to the bottom of the trolling motor? Wonder if the transducer that came with the hook can be strapped to the motor?

I'm currently researching this myself. I have an HDI transducer which I want to mount to mine but still trying to decide on the best method to run the cable. There are a couple of 3rd party solutions available but I'm going to hold off a bit and see what else comes along.

I would have expected Motor Guide / Lowrance to have made a solution available to accommodate these popular features. Maybe he someone will throw out a good idea.

That product with an HDI skimmer adapter might work. Just got to hate having a built in transducer that you can’t use on a common Lorance application. Then having to install workarounds.
