Booked at the end of march for naconiche. First time on the lake. Heard and seen a lot of good things about it. Tpwd's little project as far as I can tell. Any info about spawn locations, baits, how early or late they come in out there would b awesome. It's not a tourney out there so I'm not prying for a tournament edge. Just ready to hammer some of those east Texas toads. Thanks gentleman.

They will be spawning by next weekend looks like. Just fish the banks and pockets. Endless lay downs throw around. Watch for falling timber on the big trees

The lake is tiny, just hit the bank and start cruising till you find some. Throw whatever shade of watermelon or green pumpkin you like.

If you're looking to get up in some shallow stuff, north of the bridge up into Naconiche creek is not gonna be where you want to go. it drops off at dang near a 90 degree angle right off the shore down to about 10-15 feet deep. Shallow water is pretty tough to come by because the whole lake is like that but your best bet would be to go down into the south arm if that's what you're looking for. As for color, I've always had luck with the trusty ol' watermelon red. If you cant get them to bite anything and you need a last resort plan, weightless Senko always does the trick out there.

Also a frog right along lay downs, about 2-3 inches parallel, has always treated me right out there. Don't normally think to throw frogs in 10 feet of water but they hammer it out there.

Small lake. Put the trolling motor down and start fishing. Senkos and swim jigs with get you bit. Good luck.

Bass420, You said "booked" do you have to make a reservation to fish Naconiche? I didn't think you did but I could be wrong. You may of been referring to something else.

Lake naconiche retreat is what I was referring to. Got one of the cabins reserved for 22-25 of march. So I guess what u are saying "fivepounderonafrog" is that there are not a lot of classic spawning flats on the lake. Actually I enjoy a deeper bite. I'm not a shallow water guy. And it looks lil by the time I'm there it will b a post spawn pattern anyway. Keep the tips for the niche coming. Thanks

Even post spawners will be in the same areas. Honestly just start on a bank and don't stop. It's endless

I will definitely give yall a report. I chose that lake because of its size. Not well versed on big lakes. And it'll be the first real trip with the big boat. Stoked about it. There has been a lot of big fish in a very short time there. Can't wait

One word of advice, do not stray out of the boat lanes on plane! They are very narrow and big stumps are very close to the edges. Also lots of floaters! Main lake is safe, but North end is sketchy! You have to get in the stumps to catch em, so be prepared to hit a lot of stumps while trolling in the process. It's a fun lake to fish!

I am curious about this lake. What is the lake record and what is the "normal" clarity of the water (2 ft visibility, 4 ft?).
