One of my favorite ways to fish is throwing a weightless fluke. I have a few questions for those that throw it often. Do you tie a swivel or no? How do you add a slight weight to the fluke if you want it to sink just a little faster? Thanks!

I use the size of the hook to be the weight. usually a 4/0 or 5/0, no swivel. if you really wanna see a super fluke dance, try throwing it on 8# spinning gear and a 2/0 offset shank hook.

No swivel, and use a EWG weighted swim bait hook at least#5 size

I sometimes use a one of those small Gremlin clamp weights and put it right above the line tie to the hook... it works perfect as still has a slow fall

I use I micro swivel about 2-3 ft up the line... not for weight purposes though, but for line twist... doesnt effect anything or action of the bait.

I use a swivel and 4/0 hook, add a split shot above swivel if need be.

Add a Tungsten Swanger Rig....different action that allows you to fish it on a horizontal fall.

Very simple. I add a split shot about 8-10 inches above the hook.

Fork Legend has it right , I use the same stuff and a 3-0 EWG Gamakatsu. Love fluke fishing, my favorite fluke rod is a Dobyns DX 743 paired with a Shimano Core mg7 spooled with 12lb. Green Big Game.

How do you add a slight weight to the fluke if you want it to sink just a little faster? Thanks! If it is a little windy or I want the Fluke to work a little deeper I will add a shiny swivel about 18" up the line from my hook. It adds a little weight and changes the action at the same time. I think the shiny swivel could be mistaken by the bass to be a tiny minnow running from the Fluke.

Any use something like a 1/16th oz keel weighted hook? Seems like that might work well.

Love fishing a fluke...like others...I change hooks to adjust the fall...dead sticking them this time of year can be a blast...
