Hey, guys...I am seeking out someone that can reward my old split bamboo fly rod. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would expect that anybody with experience at wrapping any type of rod could handle that for you, but if you want a bamboo builder Robert Sherill would be a good choice. I don't have any contact info for him but I'll bet there is somebody on this forum that knows how to get in touch with him.

I have quite a bit of experience with Tonkin Cane flyrods. What brand is yours?

How many pieces / sections? Does it have two matching tips? Is it de-laminated anywhere? Are the ferrules sound and glued tightly?

Tell me your expectations... you wanting to hang it on the wall, or you planning to fish with it?

Does the grip and reelseat need repair? Do you want the rod re-varnished?

Send me a PM. I can most likely repair your split cane rod... I just need to know more about it.

It’s a TFT, with five sections, both tip sections...no delamination, butt section ferrule has come loose, would like to fish it occasionally, mostly panfish....still looks new, plastic still on the cork handle...no need to revarnish, just needs the one ferrule reglued and

You can do yourself if I understand correctly.

Rough up and clean inside of ferrule and outside of tip the best you can with sand paper and steel wool. Clean areas with acetone. Mask off area with tape and apply slow curing (I use DevCon) epoxy to inside of ferrule.

Insert the male and make sure you get a good seat and all of the air bubble are removed.

Clean up with alcohol.

Study this first and PM with any questions.

I'm thinking of breaking out my rod building setup and start a little side job. I love building fly rods and I have a nice supply of silk thread.
