I have never fished for crappie during the winter so I'm gonna ask a question. During the winter months when they are 30 or 40 ft down is the length limit still ten or do you have to keep what you catch. I had a guy tell me you had to keep them because of the pressure change from that depth could affect them. I didn't see anything in the outdoor annual so I think he's full of it.

There are only 2 lakes with this exception and it is lake of the pines and Fork I believe. It runs from 12/1-2/28. Every other lake is the same 10 inch minimum with a 25 fish creel limit.

Add Toledo Bend.

Crappie
For black and white crappie there is no MLL and daily bag = 25 crappie in combination.

While it is true that most will die, it’s only a rule for pines, fork, and Toledo bend in the winter. Carry something with a sharp point, insert behind the base of the pectoral fin and you can save those undersized fish.

Interesting... So there is no MLL at all for that lake? After looking, it looks like there is no MLL on most species over there. Never knew that.

It used to be similar (if not the same) to the rule you mentioned above. I was surprised by the rule of no MLL year round.

Toledo Bend has no length limit because it shares a border with Louisiana a state with no
Minimum length limit.
