Lake X has been pretty stingy with the crappie the last couple outings but she gave em up today. Finished with 25 big uns and I only remember throwing back 2 short ones. Caught a few on a black/chart hand tie but most were caught on a blue/chart Bonehead. Left one fish tied up to a stump...lol, never did get him untied. Filling up with eggs and the blacks looked like they were already dressing up for the dance. All but 4 fish were caught on brush anywhere from 14 to 20 fow. Water temp was 50 degrees.

Great job Bush Hog. Hoping to get back at them soon if the weather and this flue stuff would leave me alone. Good solid fish.

What kind of line is that you have tied on? Nice catch, I got stumped at Nacogdoches Monday. Was trying to catch some bream for supper and then couldnt catch any crappie either.

What kind of line is that you have tied on? Nice catch, I got stumped at Nacogdoches Monday. Was trying to catch some bream for supper and then couldnt catch any crappie either. That is Suffix 832 braid. Lot of fishermen really like braid so I thought I would give it a try. This is the best I've found for not wrapping up on the rod tip. I've got it tied directly to the jig cause I had just broke my mono leader off. Actually I can't really tell a difference in braid and mono as far as sensitivity. I just spooled another reel with fluorocarbon. I hated flouro when I was bass fishing but I'm going to give it a try with crappie. IMO Mr. Crappie Hi-Vis is pretty hard to beat.
