Any mobile mechanics in the Fruitvale area ?

I have a '98 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 that will not respond to the key start, battery is great, no fuses blown, wires seem ok, radio stops when the key turns, can not start to get to garage. Any in the area ?

Probably at least worth trying to replace the ignition switch. Can you hear the fuel pump run when the key goes to the "on" or "start" position? If so, it could be starter. If not, it might be ignition switch. Either way, I don't know of any mobile car mechanics. I had a mobile boat mechanic come out to help with my boat motor once years ago and he was great, but that's of no help to you...

Had that same thing happen in the parking lot at Sam's. Turned out to be the wire going to the brake light switch at the brake pedal broke in too under the insulation and would or wouldn't make contact when you step on the brake pedal when you attempt to start the vehicle. Every vehicle since the early 90's has to have the brake pedal closed to start. So have someone look and see when you step on the pedal that the brake lights come on, if they don't there is your problem.

My brother had that problem on his old Isuzu Rodeo and it was the "park" position sensor. Vehicle didn't think the transmission was in park and wouldn't start. Re-installed it in the steering column and worked fine from there on out.
