Well, as I planned, I took the yak out to Nails Creek this weekend instead of paddling up into the Yegua as I do most weekends when I can get out. This time, I guided my younger cousin in her new yak and started teaching her the fine art of creek fishing. For a newbie, she did pretty good, and even landed a nice 16 inch LMB with a rooster tail. I did find some white bass in the creek, but small males. Managed to keep a few for to give to my fishing partner for the day. Not a single crappie was to be found, but the trip was well worth it. All in all, the weather wasn't too terrible. It was a bit soupy out there, but we had a blast exploring.

thats my kind of place , I do alot of saltwater kayak fishing but have been wanting to get back into the freshwater. I use to be big on crappie and catfish, I really miss those calm waters you got pics of .

I haven't really had much opportunity to fish saltwater. I'd like too this spring. Doing a little research on locations (Surfside). Friend gave me 9wt fly rod, and I'm really interested in doing some fly fishing for reds in the marshes. Just not sure how to get to the marshes in the surfide area. Nails and Yegua are great creeks to fish and Yak. Nails is the easiest to get into from the boat ramp. Yegua requires a little more paddle, and if the Southwest wind starts howling, getting back to the boat ramp can be a bit of a challenge.
