I've paddled with people who have that. It's pretty stable. I think it would be hard to fish out of if you had more than minimal gear.

I have a ultimate 12..but I thought about getting this one for rougher water...I have some friends who are wanting me to go with them to some rivers that they say would swamp my ultimate...this Dirigo comes with a spray skirt, paddle and a few extras.

I have the Ultimate Tandem 14.5. You probably should be looking at a sit-on-top kayak. You can probably find a decent and affordable one on craigslist, especially if you'll just be using it occasionally.

Depends on what you're paying for it but if the price is right I would take it over some sit on tops. Many folks think that a sit on top is the only way to go but I'm not one of the them. Ran into a 72 year old man yesterday that was fishing out of a 10 foot sit inside that just started fishing from a kayak 2 years ago that loved his. At less than 28 inch beam it will paddle like a dream compared to some of the much wider sit on tops. Carry the skirt at all times and use it when conditions call for it. I've had friends with sit insides that have rigged electric bilge pumps in their sit insides. Siting below the water line makes a much lower wind profile as well. Access to your stuff would be the main drawback as there is no tank well. If you are a minimalist even better. Put a couple of flush mounts in the back and you're set. If you pay the right price there will be someone else that will take it off your hands for what you pay for it.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
