Sure I know.

Go run your vehicle over a set of scales and find out how much weight is ont he front and rear axles. Pulling something like a boat with little tongue weight it will still have probably significantly more weight on the front axle than the rear. What do you think weighs more the engine and transmission of a car or your boats tongue weight?

One of the funniest and yet saddest towing incidents I ever saw was at Fayette. A guy in a brand new decked out suburban was backing down the park ramp and got his trailer off the edge of the ramp. He high centered the trailer on the ramp and got stuck (two wheel drive). He eventually asked someones help and they hooked a tow strap to the front suspension, only to yank off the entire ground effects setup going up the ramp. That was probably a $2500 yank.

I have pictures of a guy launching a sailboat with a diesel Ford pickup. For whatever reason he backed too far down the ramp and when the sailboat slid off the trailer, the bed of the truck floated and the truck was slipping on down the ramp. He was standing in water almost to the window of the truck trying to hold it from going deeper. Someone finally got a chain and hooked to him and pulled the truck out. The diesel engine never died and was still running. The pics I have show the exhaust bubbling in the water. This happened at Park Prairie ramp at Fayette.

It's all in the leverage. He was pulling a full sized bass boat.

Years ago, used to set up a couple of chairs at Elephant Butte Lake and it never failed to be entertaining. There are a lot of people walking around us with no brains or sense. The ramp is wide and long at the state park, even saw fisticuffs a time or two....

I love watching fools, floor it on the ramp. Smoke those tires and go no where, then their buddies jump up and down on the bumper. Loads of fun to watch. Kind of like Highport on Memorial day weekend

A front wheel drive car or suv does a whole lot better in snow and ice than 2wd pickup. Also rain.
Some of these unibody suvs Are pretty stout. Saw a Chevy traverse pulling a 6000 pound 27ft travel trailer Saturday.

It will be fine with AWD. I have a friend that just bought his second 2018 Honda Ridgeline. His first one? ....he owned it a day. It was FWD and couldn't get his boat up his driveway. Never made it to the lake to try the ramp. Went back and renegotiated himself into an AWD Ridgeline and can now actually get his Z18 onto public roads. FWD is USELESS for towing. AWD, OTH, is fine.

....to redchevy

Just because you COULD, doesn't mean you SHOULD! I move my boat around my property with a riding mower from time to time....doesn't mean I'm gonna haul the boat to the lake with it.

Everyone has their opinion of could/should. Big difference in a lawn mower and a crossover. Some folks are stuck in the days gone by.

Times and vehicles have changed, transmissions and engines are much better than they used to be. Nobody would bat an eye at towing that boat with a mid 90's model 1/2 ton v-8 but simply cant wrap their mind around using a crossover that has more power similar or more torque, and more than likely at least 2 additional transmission gears. No a FWD crossover isn't my first pick by a long shot, but if its what you got it will most likely work just fine if you keep yourself within the limitations of the vehicle and have realistic expectations.

I know more than one person who tows a boat with a FWD minivan and never had an issue.

We just got two in our fleet, 3.6l 305hp, 9-speed tranny. Drove one 370 miles round trip, 25.5mpg. Had the cruise set on 79mph most of the time. Don't know that I'd want that much weight behind one, but it's a very nice ride.

Heck, I don't know one single person that will admit to driving a minivan.
