i have been on the Lake Ray Hubbard twice the past week and usually go at least once a week. fishing has been amazing since Christmas. where have the Hybrids/Sandbass gone ? i have been searching all over and cant find them. All the way down at the dam i find huge amounts of bait but i see no big fish in them.

It was extra slow for me and the hubbard buddies since the MLK weekend. My gauge water temp is 47f when the lake was low and 45f at full lake, when the DS bites are over. Hubbard dropped down to 44f two weeks ago.

Now I am waiting for mid Feb when the fish staged up to go up the creeks. If you can find where the staging is, you can catch good numbers. Will do boats and reels maintenance in the meantime lol.

Yes there were very few years in the past where DS lasted into Feb. It all depends on the feel good water temperature lol.

It varies with different lakes. I deadstick into mid March sometimes. Not drifting when I deadstick though. Were talking NO movement but wave action if there is any wind and sometimes I try to counteract that movement by moving my rod opposite the up and down of the boat in the waves.

Some people deadstick all year round. But for me good water temp is 60f fallen to 45f with 50f being peaked catching size and numbers. Plus minus a couple degrees.

Well i stand here humbled a little. Caught one hybrid and many yellows. Finally found a few fish on the South end of the lake by the west buoys. Just couldn't entice them to bite. Gene might be right. If it don't pick up i will be going back to Lake Lavon. I caught some amazing fish this winter On Lake Ray Hubbard. I will post them tomorrow.

Mother Hubbard is resting for me to. Fish are hard to find, the Crappie off the dock has stopped as well when that long freezing weather hit the fish stopped biting.
