I fished Breckenridge Park today, which is in northeast Richardson.

It was a really nice day, 60s, sunny, a bit windy at times, and I go "0" hits.

There was another fisherman who was there before I was, and after. I did not see him get a bite either.

This was about 1-3 pm.

I used my usual, spinner, weighted crawler, weighted senko and a squarebill.

What should I use in these current, north Texas conditions?

I was out on the local pond yesterday and finally caught a few good bass.

I think it's less about what you throw, and more about where you throw it.

The bass are hunkered down in the low spots, near shallow cover.

You can walk the whole bank and waste a lot of time throwing towards empty space.

I spent the last few months learning the details of my favorite ponds. It will pay off in the long run. Now I know where the deep spots are, and where the good cover is.

When the water is this cold, it doesn't matter what you throw, as long as you throw it in their face.

Had to down size and slow way down. Ended up throwing a RoadRunner and hooked several after the sun got up. I was literally barely turning the reel handle enough to keep the bait off the bottom. Nothing early but cold fingers and ears.

I usually resort to the old faithful after I’ve tried everything you mentioned Indian. Yesterday was a pink head and chartreuse/white body. Got skunked last weekend and thought the same would happen yesterday, but the sun came out and stirred them up enough to bite.

Okay, fish low spots, cover, and barely reel, almost like you are cat fishing...okay.

Caught loads of great bass in the winter while crappie fishing with a white jig on a pink head (white/chart body too).

Just because it's in the 60's doesn't mean the water temps are up yet. Bass will still be sluggish for a while. Find things that will heat up with the sunshine(grass, logs, etc.). These target areas will be the warmest parts of the water. Slow down and be patient.

its gonna be tough till the water temps rise. try a small jerkbait with long pauses. the big girls bite in this cold waster but not often.

I think this is great advise but I think in my opinion it does matter what you throw as far baits in general. But most any soft plastic bait will get bit probably. I fished a local pond the other day and the only fish I caught was a in a low spot in some thick grass not too far off the bank. It was probably the worst conditions to fish in windy cold front and clear sunny skies.

Maybe try something small or finesse and work it slow. Drop shot or a ned rig maybe.
