Need some advice folks.
I have a 2000 BassCat Cougar with two trolling motor batteries and a starting motor.
I am running a Mercury 225 EFI motor with oil injection.
This is the good oil injection system that is working good.

I am upgrading my trolling motor to 36 volt model. Really sweet deal on one.
There appears to be no more room in the rear area, unless I remove the oil reservoir and
bypass the oil injection system.

So would y'all recommend removing the reservoir?
Or are there other options I am not seeing ?

Thanks

If the oil injection system is working well, I would leave it alone. If you are having issues with that system, you could remove the reservoir and mix your gas. We had to do that on a friend's motor. Smokes a lot more and you use more oil per tank of gas, but that particular motor runs much more smoothly now.

Have you looked at any of the lithium batteries? Those are small and you might be able to fit more of them in the same footprint as what you are currently using?

I would see if you can turn the 2 existing trolling motors batteries sideways and squeeze a third in that same area. You will have to rearrange your batteries trays but it is better than mixing gas if you ask me.

From the looks of the pictures it certainly looks doable. I'd seriously consider cleaning that wiring job up while in there as well. It looks like a problem waiting to happen.

Thank you all, I believe if I turn the cranking battery and the oil reservoir sideways, I can get another battery in there.

While I was messing around in there, I found this unit laying in the bottom.

Any ideas ?.
Maybe a shoot thru the hole transducer ??

Yeah, the bigger one looks like the housing for a through hull, but it looks hollow in the picture. The smaller one was the temp sensor. Not sure why they would be loose in the your bilge but I guess if you aren't taking on water then there is nothing to be concerned about. I recently removed the old useless graph wiring like this from my boat just to clean up the bilge area some, and more importantly the bow area. They wires in the bow were starting to get in the way of my rod tips when I put in the new electronics.

I have a 2008 Bass Cat Puma....the trolling batteries are in the bass cat double battery rack and are from what I think I see in your pictures perpendicular to how your batteries are housed..I have 4 batteries in my compartment..two for trolling like I said...the starting battery and and accessoriy battery on the oil tank side...didnt have to move the oil tank . I know it isnt the same year or model..

Talk with the Basscat parts department. They can sell you a removable bridge that goes accross the bilge area. You can move the oil tank to the bridge and add a battery in the old tank location. That is the way Basscat rigs 4 battery installations. Just make sure you seal any screws added into the bottom of the hull.
