Just bought a new HDS 12 and since my I took my boat to the shop today I decided to make an AC power supply for the unit. Dug around in some old IT stuff and found an AC adapter with the correct output specs. Wired it up and sat down with the manual and the unit running in Simulator Mode. I learned more in the last hour than I have in the last year and a half using the one on my boat. It is so much easier to learn indoors that it is on the water when I cannot seem to stop fishing. Give it a try.

I have an extra power cable and a small jump box that I use in my recliner.
