Have you compared using these to using live crickets? Particularly interested if you've any comparisons to the super worms vs. crickets when trying to specifically target the larger bluegill/sunfish.
I have not used the superworms before but your excellent video has sure got me interested in trying them out.

Cast, yes, you can place them back into the same bin if you like. I will most likely start a new bin though. I plan to keep the bait stock separate from the breed stock, but even the breeding bin will have a lot of worms in it.

The main thing is I always want to have one bin with nothing but worms in it. That way I can grab an go fishing whenever I want to.

Jon, I haven't tried them against live crickets, but I gave up on crickets about 10 years ago. I've always had better luck with maggots of most any type than crickets. I have found crickets to be too delicate.

The truth is I tie flies, jigs and bait harnesses. I always tie a simple spider pattern to simulate legs, then tip it with superworms or black soldier fly larvae. I get the best of both either way.

Laker, yes, they don't like the cold, but inside the house, they're just fine. They hold up fine during a day's fishing. I keep the container is an old skull cap. That keep them plenty warm. You couldn't store these in the refrigerator because it would kill them.

I know the mealworm pupa from my colony will go neck and neck with crickets,and will out fish nightcrawler pieces.I know this as fact, because I go fishing around a bunch of "Old timers' every week and always out fish them two or three to one.

Yeah, Techno,I agree. I don't use nightcrawlers anymore either. (1) I never could keep them alive, and (2) they caused too many short strikes. I've fond with most any maggot they'll inhale it.

For me night crawlers have always and will continue to be my bait of choice for sunfish. I have never had any problems catching nice BIG fish on them. I have also seen some very nice fish caught on meal worms as well. Buying night crawlers and keeping them as I need them seems to be the easiest for me.
