I have a lake master chip in my solix and the navionics app on my phone. I fish Rayburn a lot and I was noticing the contours are totally different. Which one is right, or are they both full of [censored]?

I dont have much experience on Rayburn, but I run both (lake Master in console and Navionics in bow). Most lakes they are pretty similar, but there are some lakes that are a big difference. I have been fishing Pines a lot lately and the Navionics is way off and Lake Master is much closer. I have seen it the other way as well.

Without seeing screen shots or knowing location it is hard to say which is correct, as both can or any mapping can have some inaccuracies some due to human error, some lack of mapping in a area and some due to the ever changing lake. I will say that with the Navionics Sonar Chart program, where anglers/boaters are recording sonar logs and uploading to Navionics data base, the accuracy is improving as Navionics is averaging around 20,000 updates per week nationwide. Now even with that being said, if you see something that appears to be bad off, you can let Navionics know and their will be efforts made in correcting the inaccuracy. Both are great tools, with both having advantages over one another, so it is a lot of using both and seeing which is best for you on the bodies of water you fish.

I have both and on rayburn I prefer navionics. It also depends on what part of the lake. I like running them side by side and compare them often. Toledo is the opposite.

On Toledo it is very important to make sure that the Sonar Chart layer is activated on the Navionics card. IF not there will be huge areas where data is missing because the sonar chart layer is where all of the updates are added from additional recordings and the sonar chart program. This is very true around Housen, Six Mile and Sandy.

Don't know if this is obvious to everyone, but for me it was news: If a lake hasn't been sonar-mapped for contours, then a bunch of the contour data comes from paper maps...which were not made from sonar charts. In other words, the contour lines will be better than nothing but may be way off.
Or so I was told.

Majority of the time Navionics is better than Lakemaster on Rayburn I run both but at Rayburn I normally stick with Navionics.
