Was looking through old videos and ran xcross a good one. I watched the show when it originally aired and immediately began looking for this wonder lure. Unlike most, I actually smoked the bed fish on my pack of white helicopters, but never re-ordered due to cost. I was poor at the time. smile Anyway, enjoy this look back into bass fishing history. Lake Baccarac in its heyday.

I saw this when it first aired but didn't drink the kool aid. Never been a fan of Roland, he was always trying to blow smoke up peoples a$$eS.

I didn't ever try these, but I did bite on the "Flying Lure"....which produced 2 over 7 and several bed fish over 5 on The Fork one year, I think it was either '91 or '92 fish

Thanks for posting, Fouz...and for the reminder that I'm aging...

Roland was about the worst for the low-level absolute JUNK he would rave about in endorsements that should have been embarrassing, but weren't - to him at least.

Roland has always been a promoter. Obnoxiously so at times. But he lives, breathes, eats and sleeps fishing. Even today in his mid 70's, the man is obsessed with everything fishing. Particularly the competitive aspects.

A bit of trivia for those who don't know. Who introduced the tungsten-nickel worm weight to the world? Roland. Who came up with the metallurgical formula, design and production of that weight?

Mark Pack.

I remember going to Lake Fork Tackle and the guy behind the counter would be putting plastic inserts in the weights. I didn't know Mark invented them. Thanks Fouz thumb

That video was great! Had never seen it.

I caught quite a few bass on the banjo minnow when I was a kid.

I think I still have the helicopter lure box in my garage somewhere. And the wife says I never throw anything away. Huh!

I miss the Nashville Network. They had most of the fishing programs & a lot of hot rod automotive shows on the weekends.

He called them the screw worm, so are they another name for the helicopter lure?
