Water Bodies Fished: Guadalupe River,Lake Mcqueeney,Meadow Lake, and Private Pond.
Fished four different water bodies this week. The Rainbow Trout bite is "ON FIRE" throughout the Guadalupe River and has been that way all week.(Not including today's stocking). Used the fly rod the most. Sinking orange beetle was the fly that got the best results. Fished the Guadalupe three times and limited out each time.
Lake Mcqueeney: Crappie bite is picking up! Getting nice numbers in 14 to 16 feet of water. Fish are holding on humps, and brush piles. Jigs Chartreuse/Pink are working good. Sunfish bite has slowed down due to the past Arctic Fronts that have blown through.
Meadow Lake: Crappie are scattered but the ones I am finding are nice size. 13"and 14" fish. Fish were caught under overhanging tree limbs in 16 feet of water. Jigs Chartreuse/Pink worked the best. Also found some nice size Bluegill in 18 feet of water holding by a brush pile. Night Crawlers was the bait used on the Bluegill. Kept 10 for the frying pan.
Private Pond: Caught a couple of nice bass 4 to 5 pounds. No sunnies were found. Bass were hitting a Chartreuse/Black Rooster Tail. Pond is in pretty good shape but can use a good rain or two.
Looks like a warm spell is in store for the weekend and at the start of next week. Maybe some sunnies will get active.
