I have 20k to spend. It has a 97 Johnson Venom 225 on it and going with a brand new engine. Thinking about the Yamaha 225 4 stroke. Haven't ruled out others. Any suggestions?

See which Mfg. is offering best price rebates and warranty incentives. Negotiate with multiple dealers for best base price, extended warranty and install/rigging cost. Note you will have to purchase new controls, cables and prop. This time of year dealers need business. "NEGOTIATE"

Gonz if I had 20k in your shoes I'd sell that Stratos and buy you a newer rig! JMO, that's what I'd do if I'm you.

It appears you ended up getting a new Mercury. Is that right? I've heard the Yamaha motors were hard to find, for re-power, especially the higher horse power like you needed. I have 20k to spend. It has a 97 Johnson Venom 225 on it and going with a brand new engine. Thinking about the Yamaha 225 4 stroke. Haven't ruled out others. Any suggestions?

Just curious..
With $20k, you could get a newer well taken care of bass boat all day.
But if you want to keep your boat, I understand. I had the same exact boat a few years ago with the 225 Rude Vindicator and that was one bad [censored] piece of machinery!
