Today I realized that I had quit fishing offshore structure because I am old and cranky and tired of throwing and retrieving marker buoys and also having to stand on the trolling motor to keep the boat in position in the wind while my lure sinks. So I took the plunge and ordered a Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor. Now I can use the Spot Lock and the Jog feature to dissect the structure without having to use triangulation or a marker buoy as a reference point. The more I think about it the more excited I am to start fishing deep again as well as being able to stop my boat from blowing over a shallow spot or down the weed line when I catch and land a fish in the wind (which we have had plenty of lately). Maybe now I can catch more of these fat girls!!!

Thanks guys, I am trying to quit wearing out the 'Track Package' button! Should be here in about a week, meanwhile I'll just keep limping along with my Fortrex "dinosaur". grin

The Ultrex IS everything it's cracked up to be......

The best thing about my boat.....and I have a great boat. It positively helps me to catch more fish.

That's funny.

I did the same thing. I even played hooky from work on the day it was to be delivered. Haha I felt like it was Christmas morning and I was 10 years old again.

UPDATE: Took my new Ultrex out for the first time today and tested it in all kinds of conditions all the way up to white caps, all I can say is INCREDIBLE. Definitely a game changer for me.

Yeah. I kind of wish they hadn't done the Ultrex. It was nice having that advantage over the people who wouldn't go for electric steer. lol_2
