Hit Winchester Park in Chandler today. The trout were hitting like caged rattlesnakes! Caught well over 20 and they were all full of fight. Big storm coming in tonite and they were feeding heavy. Turned all but these 5 loose. Biggest was about 11 inches. I actually turned loose a number that were bigger than some of the ones I caught but since they weren't bleeding I let them go so someone else could enjoy them. The best things for today were my good old favorite FireBalls fished on the bottom with no weight at all and a silver and blue Kastmaster retrieved just fast enough to make it wobble. All the fish that were kept fell to bait and these are the ones that were bleeding. All lure caught fish were released to fight another day. I had laid out some venison tenderloins for tonite and am going to fry these up as well. Kind of Surf and Turf Texas style. Sides will be mac and cheese and some peas in butter sauce. Gonna be TASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Y'all

Nice post and fish Flags. Sounds like you are gong to have one SUPER dinner tonight! It amazes me how stocked trout favor certain baits in different parts of the State! Again awesome post. Side Note: What is Sweet Italian Sausage?

Side Note: What is Sweet Italian Sausage? Sweet Italian is a type of mild Italian sausage with some extra fennel and garlic. It doesn't have any "heat" but has a really good flavor. I use the LEM mix for mine.

Thanks Flags. Love deer sausage. I like mine on the hot side. A friend of mine makes a great deer chili and pretty good deer stew! Now I am getting hungry! Side Note: Are Balls of Fire Salmon Eggs?

Flags,
Nice results!
I have run over to Chandler and fished the river a few times. I can get out of the wind, just bank fishing.
Do you extend your fishing repertoire to white bass? I missed it last year but plan on to take a few stabs at it this year.
And, since you are familiar with the Athens area, is that little lake up off Hwy 31, Bailey Branch Reservoir, a public fishery? It looks like a good small craft lake.
Cheers! Brad

I get into some white bass on Richland Chambers but it is hard to fish in my tube when the wind blows and it blows more often than not there.

Don't know anything about it. I've heard it is a public lake but have never been to it. I'm only 5 minutes from Lake Athens and it is hard for me to drive past it when I want to fish.
Cheers! Brad
