Will be in Tyler and have Saturday free. Was thinking of taking the boat and hitting Palestine or Athens. I'll have my 10 year old with me so quantity over quality for sure!

Where would you go?

Both are great lakes but for numbers I would go to Athens with that boy. Palestine can be hard on your equipment and probably frustrating for the young one.

Traps on Athens should be good as well as chatter baits and spinner baits and square bills. Fish windy banks and you will probably do well.

Lake Tyler not a bad choice either.

Good Luck.

If he knows how to fish plastics go to Athens and throw a Senko or brush hog around the grass. Y’all should catch some decent numbers with a chance at a good one.

Thanks guys! Athens it is.

A quick search shows my best bet for Friday night is a hotel in Athens. Any other recommendations for accommodations on, or near, the lake?
