Seastar hydraulic steering rams leaking at motor. Can you replace seals?

Yes, but make sure the ram itself is not nicked. I had one leak a few years ago only to learn the ram itself had been nicked by a rock or something.

Yes, but make sure the ram itself is not nicked. I had one leak a few years ago only to learn the ram itself had been nicked by a rock or something. yep, I know to check the ram for nicks after reading the installation instructions on the Seastar website. I needed to get an owners manual anyway. Dude that sold me the boat was the original owner and half full of it. When I asked about owners manuals he claimed it did not come with any. I don't believe that for a second. I think he just did not want to dig them out.

Replaced seals today and bled the air out. Steering is 100% tighter and more responsive. Steering response was really falling off when going against motor torque so I knew something was up. Easy job and ran into none of the problems people have will getting ram and steering nuts off.
