I watched the 2018 MLF Selects first round. I DVR'd it, I think it was Sat. afternoon maybe live. Some changes this year, at least on the Select side.. Nitro, Basscat and Phoenix boats being used. Also... a bass less than one pound isn't a "scoreable" bass.. I like that! Fletcher Shyrock is a stick!

They got rid of the older blonde who did updates and let the nasally sounding guy yell at us more instead.

I understand some days are tougher fishing than others, but it really isnt very entertaining to watch guys go hours without a fish and many only land a handful of fish after a day of fishing.

They give them 15 mins to pick their spot before competition begins. We are basically watching them do uninformed practice fishing. Seems there is a better way to help us see more numbers and better size. Its not making some of these lakes look too good, IMO.

Love the new 1 lb rule so they don't have to go to the board. I'd like to see them go to a 21ft boat, I've heard a few anglers won't fish MLF because they don't like being crammed in an 18ft boat with an official, camera man and camera. Still my favorite fishing show and yes Fletcher is a stick!!!

and bring back the eye candy!

I started watching it last year and enjoyed it. I applaud them for trying to create a new format. The 1 lb minimum is an improvement but I think that it needs much more thought going forward. For me, I enjoyed the show initially because I got to see how the pro would attack an unknown lake with little knowledge or outside assistance of it. Then I started seeing a pattern. Only about 1/2 the lineup ever really figure out how to find the fish. It seems the other half do no better than I would, or even worse, on the lake. I watch all the body contortions when they hook a fish and running all over the boat to keep control of it, announcing it's a giant only to see a 2lb fish come up.

I wish they'd do something like got to a 10 fish limit at which time they started culling weights so they'd be forced to fish for larger fish instead of looking for schools of baby bass. Maybe let them pre fish the day before if that makes the quality better. Maybe instead of 4 places to advance, it's 3 with the 4th being the big fish of the day. Something to add a little more excitement to it.

I love this format and I like the smaller boats. This show demonstrates the true nature of bass fishing and I hope it continues to be a successful series.

I agree that it definitely makes me feel better about my fishing.

Wow a lot of them can't manage 1 fish per hour, and that's on several shows, not just this last one.

I also agree that a lot of them seem to just decide to do something (or lots of things). A few (like HS last week) a systematically developing a pattern, articulating it, and winning with it. It is pretty to see. I would have thought all or almost all of them at this level would do the same.

Finally, on tough days I keep waiting on someone who is struggling to open a period by riding around for 30 minutes to more comprehensively scope out his options. It's funny to listen to them say they really didn't have much time to decide where to go, then go somewhere, and basically stay there all day while struggling.

There is no one on the front deck with them and they aren't making big runs, I'm guessing the ones complaining about an 18 footer didn't get invited.

Part of the idea of the show is to promote instant catch and release, not to keep 10 or five fish and to reward anglers who can catch 30 keepers on a lake where others are struggling to get a couple.

Yes Fletcher is a bear at this format.

Our club fishes this format about 12 times a year and it is fun.
