slight exaggeration.

Maybe a little brighter picture, but same images doesn't make it a "game changer" by any stretch of anyone's imagination. Now maybe if it had better imaging and power to generate a cleaner picture of the structure, it would be a step in the right direction. But, a few inches of a brighter image isn't a game changer. It's simply a bigger brighter display of the same ol same ol.

Exactly, brighter display and bigger price tag. Nothing new with images.

The 7 and 9 inch Carbon models did receive a boost in screen resolution over the Gen 3. So it is possible that they could produce a clearer picture over the older models.

I agree that the difference has been overstated. I've seen them running side by side and there is a difference but "game changer" is not accurate, lol. Well, maybe if you never saw the Gen 2 or Gen 3 and went from like an LCX to a Carbon.

Side imaging, down imaging, 360 imaging, color screens, touch screens....those were game changers. Slightly higher resolution is a nice addition.

Google "choice-supportive bias".

I am more concerned about viewing angles and glare from the sun than image clarity. Both units will be flush mounted and I know I will have issues with any unit but it is my understanding that the carbon series is supposed to help with this but it is hard to tell in a store. If it is not a considerable difference I will save my money and go with Gen3

The Carbon has NO glare. You can actually see it crystal clear from the passenger seat.
