Nephew is at Squaw today and said there are lots of dead fish. Shad, bass, tilapia, all along the banks

I'm no biologist, but I wouldn't jump the gun with fish kill talk. Tilapia aren't allowed to be released alive, and plenty of bass get killed from tournament fishing when they are caught in deep water and not fizzed or allow their air bladder to adjust. So many of them just float until they die or are able to swim deep enough for their bladder to deflate. Shad, could be the major cold front we just had, hard winters kill shad all the time. Hopefully not a fish kill, but only time will tell.

What's crazy is it's on the South End, said the river is good.

They don't have to float too far from where they were culled.

Tilapia and threadfin will die below 50F, weak bass can too. Doubt it has anything to do with a tournament. Post-release mortality is very low, even in deep reservoirs, during winter.

Yeah...there's a fish kill every weekend out there. Pretty amazing, really.

Well apparently he saw more than a few, but was concentrated on the out let area of the lake.
