When fishing double jig setup. Do you always use opposite colors. Dark on top and bright on bottom or vise versa?

I usually just throw 2 colors on that look good and fish. I have yet to have a day when one color greatly out produces the other and I switch them both over to that. A lot of time it's not so much the color as it is the depth that one jig is versus the other. I like to keep different colors on to always give the fish options.

i am not a big fan of Double jiggin. I guess it something I have to get used to. I fish them with about 12 inches between them. Am I close? I Know it can vary. But is 12 inches a good starting point?

I use tandem jigs in open water and bridges. If I have no idea or info, I start with a blue/white, black chartreuse, blue chartreuse, black/pink. Usually, one of those jigs will get bit. I use white, chartreuse, and pink jigheads.
Once I start getting bites, I'll adjust accordingly.

12-18 inches apart is what I do as well. I mainly use double jigs for bridges.

I do 3 colors when vertically jigging our slip Sir Jet, Light bottom darker in the middle then darkest at the top most. Yes.... until we find what they want , then switch to same color... Good fishin I need to do this...I'm just too lazy to re-tie, most of the time they'll hit the other jigs too not as much as the color of the day though.

I never thought about when to use the tandem jig. I was trying to use it around structure. And Boy have I paid the price. Thanks for the insight guy and gals.

I use tandem jigs all of the time on bridges (triple on my rods with braid). I usually put two different colors (usually opposite colors) and two different styles of jigs. I don't consider whether dark or light is on top or bottom. Rarely do I ever use the same jig on top and bottom. That's just me. If I'm fishing brush, I go to one jig.
