I have a shimano lexica (green) that everything works fine but if I take my hand off handle it will free spool. What might be the cause this to happen?
thanks,Steven

Does the thumb bar click back up (engage) after you cast and when you start to reel?

Yes---everything works normal as long as I have by hand in reel handle.
It is like when you are using a spin caster and you flip the anti reverse lever.

Sound like your antireverse bearing is not working correctly. I had a antireverse bearing go out once on a hook set. What a mess that made!!

Like everyone mentioned, probably your (ARB) Anti Reverse Bearing. Most of them don't go out, they usually need to be cleaned. Take it out, clean in lighter fluid, preferably ultrasonic cleaner. Once it is clean, let dry overnight to get any moisture out, and then lightly with a cotton swab, coat the inside needle bearings with thin oil. Do not over oil. If this all fails, get a new bearing and put it in. Make sure if you get a new bearing, to mention L.H or R.H crank.
