I'm an Admittedly weak jig fisherman...just never really been confident in it. But, after boating 8 on it yesterday, I think I'll keep it in the arsenal.

What the heck fished Granbury 6 hours yesterday and had a jig tied on all day and not a single bite. Caught one under on a swim bait...

Really nice fish!
Matt's and Tim's TacticalBassin on YouTube has one of the most thorough primers/tutorials on jig fishing I've watched: equipment, types of jigs, colors, sizes, lines and leaders, etc.
One interesting factoid Matt mentioned is to use a rod with some good bend to it, say a moderate tip. He mentions that a rod that bends more and deeper is less likely to straighten out during the fight, releasing the tension on the hook in the fish's mouth where it can shake off a heavy jig. Interesting.
Matt and Tim are guides; several of the pros known for jig fishing give great tips, too.
Brad
P.S. 7:03 AM and raining like heck on Lake Athens!

Keep it simple and gain confidence in it, then you can explore options that fit your fishing style. Most of the pro's say the same thing (keep it simple) and good jog on those jig fish they look nice.
