What rod would you pair up wth a Shimano Curado 200 K 6.2:1 for $175 or less? What is your favorite make of rod under $175?

Thanks!

Kinda hard to recommend a specific rod without knowing what you intend to use it for. However, if you're just looking at all rods at that price, check out the Dobyns Sierra series. Price point is $159.99 - 179.99. They have a model for almost every technique.

Gift for a really good friend who has helped me out. He doesnt know that I am doing it for him. I would say spinner bait or crank bait. Looking for a nice all around set up for him. I know that's not very specific or ideal. Definitely not finesse or heavy action.

Dobyns! They have 3 series that are in that price range and will cover any type of technique that you want. You could go with the Colt, Fury, and Sierra series

Falcon Lowrider 20 rods are my favorite. High quality and they have an action for everything.

StCroix Avid series for an all around rod. For old timers like myself, the longer built up full cork handle for two handed casting on windy days and using longer rod butt under forearm for fighting a fish is the icing on the cake. I've had mine for 15 years. Once fought a 100 + lb tarpon on it for 3 hours. When you have had a rod bent at max for that long you get confidence in a rod. Use it for everything I throw at bass. Great balance of sensitivity and durability. It sold for $150 back then, now a little more. Planning to get another one just like it.

AVC70MF 7' Medium (power) Fast (tip) 1 10 - 17 lb test 1/4 - 5/8 ounce 4.1 weight 2(handle) $ 200

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

I use custom rods made here in Texas. Not manufactured so my eyes are lined up perfectly every time. I also like using winn grips to prevent slipping. I have boat flipped giants on these things. Pretty sensitive too! Check them out www.hardyrods.net
