Plan to fish Conroe on Saturday launching at either StowAway and fishing Johnson's Bluff area or launching up at Cagle fishing the bridge area. Have very little experience on Conroe.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Conroe is a pretty big lake, but just FYI, there will be a couple hundred plus boats of THSBA high schoolers out there Saturday. It's a trailering event, so the launching will be pretty spread out, but I bet a ton will be up north at those 3-4 ramps.

Plus not sure what type of boat you have the run from Stowaway north is not one to try without doing your homework or following someone.

Regarding the HS tournament I know of teams that will be launching at 3:30 AM just to avoid the lines and to get a jump on lake locations. Last tournament on Somerville had 200+ boats trying to launch at two ramps.

Personally I would go Friday or Sunday instead.

I would launch @ Stowaway and drop the trolling motor and fish around that area. * They release all those big bass from the marina after the tourneys... The bridge on Calvary holds some nice ones too at times. I've caught some pigs in there.

You can also go strait across from Cagle and fish all of the brush you see sticking up and catch them there as well.

If you choose to fish this area then idle over to the brush, lots of timber in between.

I just saw two bass boats following each other run across from Cagle north bound. I idled across the area they were running about a week ago and hit stump after stump. I couldn't believe they made it, they were way out across from Cagle.

Definitely a way to run there. Most chips have it pretty clear where to go. The timber line gets harder to see every year. I have seen a number of boats blow right thru the stump mind field there.

Big difference between Somerville with two ramps and Conroe with dozens of ramps. I can understand the PTSD from that morning though.

That's where they were, never seen anyone run that area they were in. I bounced off stump after stump idling through there. I was just watching and waiting for a bang.

Off topic a little but does anyone know if the GPS coordinates for the route north of 1375 on the Hook N Line map are accurate? Always wanted to go north of 1375 but never have. I see people run it all the time.

Isn't that the truth! Then the wind and cold weather just added to the pain.
