Alright this is my first report on this forum hope to post many more. Launched at HWY 190 at 6:15 fished till 3:30. Hit a couple of my usual spots to see if the fish have started stacking up on shad yet didn't have much luck with that. Ran up the Angelina river went to one of my favorite spots started catching some fish on a squarebill crankbait. Managed to find several two plus pound fish in that area. Left there went up river to another area I like. Pulled up threw my crankbait out and caught a 3.11. Fished around caught a few more on the crankbait. Seen some fish pushing shad up on the bank. Went to try and catch them but by the time you would get to them they would be 50 yards down the bank. Changed my senko to a fluke and caught a 3.4 along with a few other fish. Left there and went back down river to fish a few spot seen some fish busting shad on a grass line so I picked up my frog. Managed to get a couple of bites on it. Had two huge blow ups but they never took it real well. My best 5 fish was 3.11, 3.4, 2.8, 2.6, and 1.11 caught around 30 fish all day. At the beginning of October I caught an 8 even on a frog on the main river. Hope this helps someone

Good for you!

We have gone out of that ramp and up the Angelina but have never caught fish with any size to them.

This was the 8.0 I caught at the beginning of October. This is a 5 3/4 I caught last weekend on a trap. The bottom picture is the 8.0. The middle picture is the 5 3/4.

Wow! I never would have thought that there were LMB that big in the Angelina river. Good stuff!

Yes sir, there was a 13 pounder caught several years ago! Backwater lakes (oxbows good at times).

Great job! Love fishing rivers. River bass seem to fight harder.

We decided to go to the Angelina today. Gorgeous day. When we put in at Bevilport, we were hoping that the dam was releasing water. It wasn't. We have fished this river before and the difference between good and bad fishing has always been the presence of current. We tried several areas and found a (very) few small fish here and there. My Wife did catch a really nice #4.5 LMB on a lipless crank bait near the dam. We threw and threw without much to show for it.

The highlight of the day was seeing two otters. They were on the west side of the river, then swam to the east side, ending up at a steep clay/sand bank. We trolled over close and watched them for about 10 minutes. My Wife got some pictures but the sun just wasn't right.

It was tough yesterday evening. I'm going to give it another shot in the morning. 4.5 is a nice fish I'm going to try the oxbows. Main river hasn't been good to me the last few trips. Thanks for posting
