Thank you so very much for your help! There was no way I could have gotten him by myself, hence why we were still lying on the ramp and half way in the water. God bless you!

Man thats scary, have to agree he would have drowned by himself. Imagine walking up to that with a truck door open and truck running. Say your prayers tonight, hope your Dad is OK. You pay to fish there, raise hell next time and cite this incident. We had one like that I walked down holding a rope a few times and I have slipped on an iced ramp. not good.

Watch it happen, make it happen, or say what the hell happened. Capt. Phil Harris F/V Cornelia Marie RIP

BJ, That is scary hope your Dad is doing well. Not sure what they can do with lakes rising and falling.

Not sure they will do anything to correct this issue. In fact, I could see where they might shut the gate and stop us from fishing this lake if someone complains to much. These parks do not make enough money, maybe enough to pay the people who work there and that would be it.

BJ, I hope your Dad is doing ok. Can you tell us how he is doing? I know I am on up in age and it takes me longer to bounce back today than it use to. And the blow your Dad took I am shocked that he doesn't have a concussion. I live in a small town and I do not trust our medical staff here at the hospital and I'm sure your Dad went to he ER there on 77. If it were me, I might have to go into a bigger town like Austin and have them check it out as well. Small town hospitals do not have the best of the best equipment for x-ray. Just saying. For instance, I had an MRI done in our town only to find out that their new MRI machine is horrible, images are not clear at all.

PattyMag, when we left after talking to you we went to the intake area and got on several fish there pretty quick like. After driving around looking for some bait balls, the intake area was the first place I saw some and just like that, there were fish under them feeding. When the wind finally started blowing, I went back to the very first place I checked and it to now had shad with bass under it. That's were the majority of our catch was taken with several double hook ups at that.

Update on my dad, after talking with him last night. He said he is still really sore in his neck but he is doing a lot better from two days ago. Has to take it slow when sitting up or else he gets dizzy and it takes awhile to get focused. He does not remember anything after the fall until he was in the ambulance. He doesn't remember crawling up the ramp of even sitting in my truck... crazy!!!!! I told him about getting checked out with his doctor and he said he will if no improvement... yes he is hard headed lol Guys thanks for all the prayers and kind words!

As for the fishing Sunday we did really good on plastics and a few on crankbaits too. All our fish came from 8-12 foot of water in multiple spots. I am ready for them to move shallow for the topwater bite smile

From the update you just gave, he needs to have a x-ray done. If he didn't have anything wrong then he would be sore and stiff, but dizzy still. Really wish you could convince him to go get it checked out. It doesn't sound right.

bass101 I know what you're talking about, my parents are the same way. You can talk to them until you turn blue in the face and they are still going to do what they want even if you might be right or not. And since they are our parents, we have to respect their thought process as well.

Okay here is how you get your truck up the ramp by yourself. The boat is hooked up and you're back in your truck and it is slipping backwards. Stop truck, put in park, go start the boat motor, put in forward gear, give it throttle and leave it running. Get out of boat climb in your truck and drive it up the ramp till the tires are on the dry part, put truck in park, climb back in boat, kill motor, tilt it up, get back in truck then drive the rest of the way up the ramp. Pretty simple..... I know it sounds like a lot of work, but much better than your truck sliding into the lake and if there is no body else around, this becomes a must issue to solve by yourself. I know because I have been in this condition several times already and this works very well. Another thing you can try first is applying the parking brake so both tires are gripping at the same time, not just one spinning.

Trust me, if I had four wheel drive, I too would just flip a switch. But 90% of us do not have this, so the power of our own boat will get us out of trouble when need to.

Ok my friend, I haven't been back to the lake in some time so I can't give you an update personally. But here are some things I've read that others have posted. The fish have moved up shallow and there is a great top water bite early. As the sun comes on out, the bite is shifting to a little deeper water, like 8 to 12 feet. Nothing real big, average fish are 1-1/2 to 3 pounds, but the number of fish being caught are on up there, like 40 to 60 bass in a day with two guys fishing.
