The cold weather seems to be a few weeks behind this year. Here it is almost December and the water temperature is still well into the 60s. With the warm weather expected this week, it looks like it will be almost Christmas before we see water temps in the 50s. What that means is awesome fishing for the next 2-3 weeks. My best 2 days ever for numbers of largemouths were both in December - well over 100 fish per day. I believe December will be the best month for numbers in 2017.
The largemouth bite (especially deep) got a lot better when it got down to 62 degrees last week. I found and caught bass on just about every spot I've fished. This is a great time to study electronics and learn how to fish deep. I've found that when the yellow bass aren't biting as soon as the bait hits bottom, the largemouths are biting good. So, we are getting action either way. Numbers are the best they've been all year long. Come take advantage of it before they go into hibernation.
My favorite baits are drop-shots and spoons, mainly because I can get right on top of the fish and catch them without much effort. But you can back away from them and catch the same fish (and some bigger fish) on tailspinners, dropshots, spoons, C-rigs, and A-rigs. My best depths have been 16 to 20 feet most days. On the warmer days, it seems like I'm finding most of my fish in the 25 feet range. But they move shallower on the cooler days and early and late in the day.

The lake is looking good at only 1.27 feet low.

Please keep my family in your prayers. My wife had a light stroke and was hospitalized last Monday. She seems to be fine now (although weak), but it was likely caused by stress - and now she has more to contribute to her stress. The doctors ran a bunch of tests and didn't find anything. So we don't know how to ensure that it won't happen again.

Hope your wife recovers quickly, Richie. You are one of the hardest working guides I've been in the boat with. I know you catch a whole bunch of fish this time of year out there. I hope you get booked solid while the bite is hot for you.
