Here it is, 22 Nov, the day after they stocked trout in Tyler State Park. School is shut down for the week due to Thanksgiving and I don't have to work. New line is on the reel, the float tube is in the truck and 2 jars of fireballs are standing by. However I am sick off my butt on the couch coughing up some nasty yellow stuff from deep in my lungs! Talk about a major bummer!

There is a lot of atypical pneumonia going around. Used to be called "walking pneumonia".

I had it a few weeks ago myself. Went to a walk-in clinic and got some Zithromax. Knocked it out.

Well, heck, Flags . . . Louise and I were driving over the Lake Athens 2495 bridge yesterday around 2:30 PM heading to Houston and I looked down and saw an angler in a float tube just below the east side of the bridge, thought it was you, and honked. Beep beep.

I suppose it was someone else if you were sick at home.

But, you had mentioned that you floated over to the bridge on a trip out a few months ago so I assumed it was you.

I'll get out again soon, have had some luck catching bluegills from my fishing canoe. I have an idea in mind . . . sort of drifting and dragging along a drop shot for bluegills to see if I can find some in deeper water. They appear to have left the shallows, not catching as many around boat houses these days.

The attached photo doesn't do justice to this bluegill caught over a week ago trolling like that. It wasn't nearly as long as some I have caught on Lake Athens but it was very wide (had some shoulders on it!) and felt like it might have weighed close to a pound. Photo from a flip phone so not much of a chance to snap a better pic.

Brad

Nope. That place is a zoo. Besides they charge you to get in. If I don't make Tyler this weekend I'll wait until they stock Winchester Lake in Chandler. It is right up the road and I always do well there. Care to join me when I go?

I'm in assuming schedules permit. I messaged you back. That's a fun little pond! Brad
