Totalscan wont work on a gen2. Spotlight scan is a joke too. If you just want sonar & di, get a hdi transducer. If you want si too, youll have to find another lss1 or lss2.

Starting today Bass Pro has the Elite-Ti 12-inch screen for $1499 (while supplies last). This unit with Total Scan will give you new technology and provide everything you have had with your HDS-10 unit.

The elite-ti series will not have ethernet like the HDS series just in case you have more than one HDS on your boat

Time to switch to a Bird so you can actually see something besides clutter. Advice from a Lowrance owner:)
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

You have pretty much stated the exact OPPOSITE from what everyone else says. I could see you saying that bird has better maps with lakemaster, they have better side imaging or that they have the 360. But youre going with better sonar???

You have pretty much stated the exact OPPOSITE from what everyone else says. I could see you saying that bird has better maps with lakemaster, they have better side imaging or that they have the 360. But youre going with better sonar??? Let me clarify. My Lowrance has excellent 2D sonar. The SI & DI are not nearly as good as my old 688 SI/DI bird. The Bird was a simple to use fishfinder with a single transducer and the 2D sonar was very good. My Lowrance HDS units are run thru an LSS-1 and maybe that's the problem with the downscan resolution. On my old Bird I could see every little branch on a tree below me and any fish laying in a fork. On my Lowrance with LSS-1 about all I can see is the trunk and bigger limbs and can barely see a fish. Out in open water the Lowrance will show big schools but it's hard to pick out individual fish with side scan or downscan. I am convinced the difference may be in the quality of the transducers. I think Birds may come with better tranducers but in reality they are probably all made by the same place somewhere in China. My lowrance units are run off of 2 different transducers, the standard skimmer transom mounted and the old structure scan transducer that is about 8" long glued to the bottom of the hull step.
