Because of medical problems I could really use the auto deploy and stow but I continue reading of problems with Ulterras getting stuck while deploying. And I've read that just bumping something can knock it out if wack.So my question is, would you buy another one or if given the chance, would you go with an Ultrex?

I haven't had mine long but it would be hard for me to give up. I don't troll fast so I'm not worried about bumping into things. Mine got stuck but it was more of my fault than the units because a cable got caught and wouldn't allow it to store and I didn't catch that until I had tried numerous times.

They really make fishing more relaxing not having to jump up to lower and pull it up all day.

I bought a reconditioned unit with a one year warranty. Some places like universal mania offer an extended warranty pretty cheap. If try to get one of those if possible

My Ulterra is now 2 yrs old and have not had any problems with it so far. Wish I have the new version with blue tooth and improved spot lock but very satisfied with it. Best accessory I have ever bought for my boat.

They require a little regular maintenance. Water-based silicone lube spray where the shaft slides up and down and water-resistance grease on the hinge area. I really love mine.

I had one on my old boat and loved it. 1 year ago I got a new boat and a new Ulterra. Still love it. Haven't had any trouble except when I hit a huge wave too hard and busted it up. But that was my fault and any TM is at risk on huge waves. I love the link to my Humminbird units where I can stow and deploy from behind the steering wheel. I use that way more than I thought I would.
I use the remote only and don't even have the foot pedal plugged up. For some reason, some people prefer the old cable foot pedals which to me are clumsy, bulky, and more arduous.

We sell rebuilt ones with a year warranty. We're not seeing alot of issues with them. More user errors then mechanical.
