What is a good company to have your boat insured with?
Customer service
Response time to a claim
ETC....
I am currently thinking about switching from Allstate to Farmers.

My boat insurance goes through Foremost. I needed a quick turn around on a lower unit last year between tournaments and the shop told me he doubted I could file on insurance and get it back in time for the next tournament, but the insurance adjuster understood my need and was actually on me to get on the shop because she was waiting on him. Had a great experience with both, the insurance and the shop.

This is what I did. 1/2 price of State Farm for better coverage. I was paying $1000 per year w/State Farm. Worldwide is $500 for $50,000 "contracted value", $300,000 liability and $3000 for unattached gear(tackle...). The "contracted value" is a big thing. In the unlikely event that you have a total loss the policy pays for the total contracted value instead of some grossly depreciated book value. In other words you get the amount you are paying for anyway. I can't vouch for their service as I've had no claims in 3 years w/them but many on this forum have talked highly of their service in the event of a claim and I've personally heard no bad stories after a claim. Good Luck! http://worldwidemarineins.com/

I've had State Farm on boats, and I have Allstate now. I've never used either for a claim and costs is about the same. The only reason I changed was I have a 20 yr old son who is aspiring to be a NASCAR driver for Toyota. Only problem is I bought him a Camry. State Farm cancelled my wife and I due to his inability to keep his paint from winding up on others cars.

Three college educated male children...I can relate...and then some. Actually had all 3 "under 25 male drivers" on my insurance at one time! Only one left on his final year in school and this poor old fireman gets a raise! Oh, sorry. Try Worldwide! http://worldwidemarineins.com/

I tried to talk to Bob a few years back, didn't care for the response I received from them.

I now have Foremost and my agent is Dillon Lee. He's a long time fisherman so he and his team understand the needs of a fisherman. They have been awesome on CS and very fast when I filed a claim.

I have used Progressive since I have owned boat. 6 lower units in 3 years no questions asked other then the standard. 3 fiberglass repair jobs. Payed like clockwork. I will never have anything else. Go and ask the repair shops who pays the quickest and easiest. I have owned a boat since before year 2000.

Progressive, Statefarm, Allstate and Farmers are the easiest to deal with. Make sure you don't get a policy that depreciates any part of your boat and make sure you get ample trailer coverage.
