Fished Whitney for three days in a row. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday morning.
Saw fish stacked up on my screen, but couldn't catch a single fish.
3 days.

I tried a white bucktail jig with a chartreuse tail. I tried crankbaits, I tried slabs, I tried trolling.
I can't catch fish.
I can't catch shad either.
I need help!

My last few times out, it was necessary to present the lure slowly. It is not quite dead sticking time, but it is near.
About all I ever use are slabs or soft plastics on white bass & hybrid stripers. I would think stripers would be the same.

I hear you on that hide and seek....My son and I managed about 4 fish the other day. The birds were going crazy, and we threw shad, flukes, slabs, big small you name it.....very frustrating for sure. However I see Dan the man joined this conversation so you can bet he's about to help solve our problem. lol He can do it for sure

Sorry, I didn't get any pics of the screen. But it was like some of those shots the guys from Tawakoni post up.
I was so excited, I was throwing everything I had at them.

as the water temps dip you'll be able to dead stick them.

Sometimes a ghost pole on each side of the boat works wonders. We have been using white/silver one ounce slabs on one pole and jig head tandem on the other. Dead stick approach, one pole down @ twenty feet, the other 16 or so. This is done while close to diving gulls , not terns, while tossing buck tail with trailer using count method to get down to suspended fish. Has been working great on PK, Bporte and Palo Pinto.
The key has been to move ahead of, or in front of the birds, not behind them !

Thanks gborg. I was casting under some gulls yesterday as well. I have never heard of the ghost pole trick. I can do that!

Now you know why the striper guides go to Live Bait on conditions like that.

Bluegill, big minnows, or shad. Shad is usually the best if you have the gear and
know how to catch them and keep them alive.

Dangle those baits a few feet above your marked fish. Even then you may have to wait
them out.

Also, go to YouTube and check out Power Reeling spoons on striper schools.
Power Reeling large spoons up through striper schools can generate reaction bites.
